In peace let us pray to the Lord. For peace from on high, and for the salvation of our souls, let us pray to the Lord.
There is an ancient Latin saying that reads, "Lex orandi, lex credendi (The law of prayer is the law of faith)." Following this maxim the worshipper in the Eastern Church both praises God and learns the Divine Truths at the same time. Thus the Faith is expressed in the prayers and no one can be a theologian without praying and a theologian is defined as one who prays.
This integral connection between belief and prayer exists because Christianity is Christ-- It is being in communion with the "Living One(Lk. 24:5)". We seek not to know about God, but rather to be in communion with him, and in turn we come to know and love Him Who dwells in us.
This anathology of prayers is offered to the faithful of the Eparchy with the hope that it may be a means of growth in Divine Life.
