Shine in our hearts, Master who love mankind,
The pure light of Your divine knowledge
And open the eyes of our mind
That we may understand the announcing of Your Good News;
Introduction:
In the fullness of time, God the Father sent into our world His only Son, our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ, through the consent of one of us, Mary the Immaculate Mother of God, to whom we owe an eternal debt of gratitude.
Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, Son of Mary, the eternal Word of God, left as a memorial of Himself His own Good News, His Gospel of faith and love transcribed by His appointed Evangelists. These words, then, are truly the words of Life, since they bring down to us in precise translation the expressions of the only One Who could say of Himself: I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.
The book that contains the Word of God is most holy and sacred. It is carried aloft in religious processions; it is kissed and venerated in awesome adoration. No binding is too precious to contain it, nor is any print beautiful enough to carry its message.
May this new edition of the Book of Life become a bond of peace, a fountain of life and a haven of joy in Christ our God; and may a special blessing from Father, Son and Holy Spirity descend upon all who use it with reverence and faith.

Set in us the fear of Your blessed commandments,
So that, trampling all carnal desires,
We may live according to the Spirit,
Both willing and doing everything that pleases You.
For You are the light of our souls and bodies, O Christ God,
And we render glory to You, and to Your Eternal Father
And to Your All-Holy, Good and Life-Giving Spirit,
Now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
